I've been devastated by this mass murder. I've ranted, shared and digitally lost my mind on facebook and twitter, I'm not going to do that here, not yet at least, but there were three songs that have soundtracked this week for me, so here they are.
The Sunday after the tragedy was LA Pride and a DJ friend (the brilliant DJ Josh Peace) was booked to perform but posted to FB "How can I play music today?" and I reminded him, "Josh PEACE, remember always... Music is The Answer and play this." He did and sent me a video of him playing it to crowd and it meant so much to me, a moment of true joy amongst the sadness. GOD IS A DJ.
Crying at the gym is never a good look, I have done it twice in the past four days. The first time was on the treadmill looking up at Fox News' reporting on the tragedy (which was disgusting BTW) and then this song came on my shuffle and I shut my eyes and then I was crushed, so I left. Watch the video above, it's so powerful (and from a GAY ARTIST.)
And then this one, (especially this performance, so out and proudly gay) reminded me we do have allies, we aren't alone, and we gon' be alright!
