PopMuse & Bloghungry in NYC

Nycmptimessq Just got back from NYC.  Had a good time.  Fun seeing friends and family. Ate too much, read Bloghungry in the coming days for details on that story.

Met a beautiful baby, fell in love with DUMBO, caught a cultural performance of hits from the 50s sang by a hobo on a subway, drank tequila with new friends at a Truck Stop with a Hot Tub, reunited with old friends on streets and in restaurants, saw my brother's posh office, saw my employer's posh office, spent 11 minutes looking at Jeff Koons' Art at The Met, spent 8 minutes looking at people at the pool at Soho House, went to 4 bakeries in 2 hours (again, read Bloghungry for more on that) and had an overall exhausting (yet entertaining) 5 days on the east coast.

Uploaded some pics to FLICKR.  Feel free to check 'em out.  This is a weird post, I am tired.

SEE PICS HERE.

There was one song in my head the whole trip and it was:
FLIGHT OF THE CONCHORDS "INNER CITY PRESSURE"

Boom Boom Post tomorrow, I promise.

See Blake Run

So WOW TV has a new show called "See Blake Run".  I totally stumbled on it knowing nothing, but here's the swirl:

Follow the exploits of WOW runner Blake Jacobs as he drives around town sharing his musings, delivering packages and listening to his own personalized party mix.

This kid's a star. The accent, the t-shirts, the beard, the smile.  Oh and the music cues are very clever too.

If PopMuse was working at WOW I'd prob have a crush on Blake, I have a thing for delivery boys - just ask Bloghungry, (did you know he was delivering Pizzas when we met?)  And if that's not enough, the way Blake say "Michael" (see eps 3) would melt me.

And I can relate, PopMuse's first job in LA was as a runner for a game show, and although it was miserable sitting in all that traffic, going to those entertainment industry offices was kind of glamorous.

PopMuse at 3

Cup2 PopMuse.com is 3 YEARS OLD today.  I've never mentioned blog birthdays before because, well, who really cares?  But since I've got nothing else to say, I thought I would mention it.

Being the PopMuse has provided many surprises and infinite enjoyment, seriously folks.

Over the years PopMuse has been many things to many people.  We've covered gossip, trends, vintage videos, current vid clips, music downloads, personal revelations, blah blah and boom boom...  It has been a place for me to share my musings of the moment.  And I thank you, my faithful readers, for hanging out at my water cooler.

In honor of PopMuse.com's B-Day I wanted to link some old posts that have received bizarre or noteworthy comments.  Because without you, PopMuse is... you know.

LetoWho knew a Gay Joke about Jared Leto would turn into all this

Misa2Or that 90's Female White Raptress MISA would illicit an email from the lady herself.

Nolan1 Or that Nolan Thomas' Mother would come to his "Yo Little Brother" defense.

Mo222 Or that Madonna fans and haters would feel so passionately about "Super Pop".

Cfish08 Or that Carrie Fisher (the human) would find Carrie Fisher (the dog).

Thanks for reading!

Yours,
PopMuse

Sundance '08

Snow1 A rare glimpse at the man behind the Muse doing the day job.  Soo soo busy working up at Sundance (making television art... what? YES.)   But wanted to post something up here for you to watch; because I know you don't have enough with The Britney Show and The Ledger Report.  (And one little PopMuse note on The Ledger Report, as a lifer-insomniac myself, I can assure you, sleep deprivation and sleeping pills can't kill you.  Booze, pneumonia, illegal hard drugs, Pharmaceutical Psychotropic medications AND sleeping pills CAN.  (Sorry that was for the kids at MSNBC).  Still, very very sad that he died.  Too much death lately.

BONUS: When you work in television production there is always that moment where the whole crew loses their mind, generally at the 12th Hour of shooting.  Once minds are lost funny songs start to get sung.  This year 2 songs have gotten us through...  Here they are:

Robyn -- Be Mine

You may have seen it on other blogs but I feel compelled to write about it here too...  Robyn's latest video "Be Mine" is so fun and fresh.  I love how Robyn's latest success in the US is completely due to Music Bloggers.  Midnight Lounge was barking about this track back in 2005, and here in 2007, a new video?  Amazing.  Someday when they are trying to figure out how music disseminated in the blog age, they'll study Robyn.

Anyway, song and video, red hot.  Love the Madonna "Who's That Girl" references.  And man oh man did Britney steal from Robyn's CD "Konichwa Bitches" for "Blackout".  And it's Robyn singing that tweaky back-up vocal on "Piece of Me".  Loving the idea that Robyn is the Wizard of Oz to US Pop right now.

PopMuse wants to be Dan Savage

Savage_dan If PopMuse was somehow caught in a "Vice Versa" style movie where he had to switch places with someone on earth, I would want it to be Dan Savage.  And no, not because I've read all his books like every gay male who has gone on a vacation.  But, because I LOVE his podcast.  (And I want his husband, kids and home in Seattle...)

If ya don't know, Dan Savage a sex columnist who also does a Sex Podcast which is AMAZING!  I worship, seriously.

I selected a little audio sample of the latest episode (for you kids who need a trailer for everything.)  In the sample Dan's talking with a 21 year old Latino Gay who's trolling backrooms and bathrooms for sex.  (But straight readers, do not fear, most of the callers and questions are from straight folk.)  It's all fascinating, just subscribe already.

American Idol Ice Cream & New Britney

Popmuseamicecream Have you seen?  Bloghungry (my personal chef) is back to blogging!  In honor of that I decided to post on his two favorite things, Food and Britney Spears.  Here's a pic of me acting a fool in a grocery store upon discovering American Idol Ice Cream.  Did you know they made this?  It's not even on-air right now?  Crazy.  Brilliant.  I want an entire American Idol Grocery Store, don't you?

Britneybeautyta3 Here's Brit's new single "Gimme More".  I like it OK, but I asked super-fan BH to comment and he simply said "She needs to gimme more."  Profound.  Listen Below.

I found this (most certainly fake) pic of Britney on ENDER's site.  But wouldn't it be nice if it was real? [courtesy of cola]

Clay sings SexyBack, seriously.

Rma PopMuse and Bloghungry went out to an Instinct Magazine / Prism Comics Event the other night and bumped in fellow blogger CHART RIGGER (and his super-charming friends.)  I've been a big fan of The Rigger for a long time, and it was a delight to meet him face to face.

CT recently posted a video clip I had to share with you PopMuse Readers.  WATCH Above, it is Clay Aiken doing a live cover of JT's SexyBack, and it is disturbingly delicious.  It was part of a medley which included, Usher's YEAH!, O.P.P. and Achy Breaky Heart, yes really.  Oh Hell just watch below:
