Walking Carrie Fisher (the dog) morning after what looks like a crazy New Years Eve night in West Hollywood. Sidewalks are covered in glitter and balloons, appropriately. (Our little family slept through the whole thing, appropriately.)
My headphones are playing FOXY's New INCREDIBLE MIX which is breaking my heart and giving me faith in the future all at once. This song "Headphones" plays as I walk by a trashed '10 Balloon and it's enough to make me believe in God, and then I remember pop music is my God, and know everything will be OK in 2010 long as I got music. Happy New Year's Day Kids! xx, PopMuse
American Express approached me to be an “Enthusiast” because they thought my obsession with travel, music, gadgets, entertainment and food related to specific Charge Card Rewards and benefits Am Ex offers. They told me they were looking for bloggers who would be willing to use an American Express Charge Card and share my experiences using it on my blog – and on their site.
I already had a Gold Card and a Blue Card. And they gave me 50,000 Membership Rewards points right away. (The reason for this was because I’m only working with them for a short term and they wanted me to be able to apply them to my life while I’m featured in the program.) They asked me to share my experiences with you through my posts and Tweets. I was told I could share my own opinion – positive or negative.
I was not paid. (I did get 50,000 Membership Points credited to my account.)
I was invited to go to an American Express event featuring a Dave Mathews performance and Chef John Besh food up in Napa Valley, they will cover the travel expenses for Bloghungry and myself. (More on that after I attend!)
When American Express reached out to me, they gave me the following “terms of engagement” that they asked me to follow:
· Be transparent and disclose my relationship and anything I’ve received as a result of my relationship with American Express.
· Be honest about my opinions.
· Offer suggestions and concerns.
· Clearly articulate when I am being compensated – by cash or in any other way – for consulting or other duties I may perform.
Did you know Hello Kitty is 35 years old? (Same as me boo! So why does she looks so much younger???) There is a very cool exhibit in LA right now (through Nov. 15th) celebrating her birth.
The Royal T Cafe and Gallery in Culver City has been transformed into a Hello Kitty Paradise. Bloghungry and PopMuse went to the preview event last night and had fun checking out the scene. Don't worry, we are going to bring Lily down there later, when it is a little less crowded, and before her bedtime.
Modern Art Stars like Baseman, Luke Chueh (a PopMuse fav) and Buff Monster give their spin on Ms. Kitty. PopMuse, of course, was most interested in the Lady Gaga Photographs (pictured above.)
There are more events happening, so check out the schedule and make sure you stop by.
For you Los Angelenos or you Trend Trackers... In 6 months this will be considered the new Largo. As PopMuse it is my duty to tell you about it. I mean, I was scooped by This American Life, but still... PopMuse proclaims: D&D Joke Center is the new Largo.
PopMuse is off to San Diego Comic-Con for work. Might have time to post there, but probably not, my apologies. Have a good weekend!
Here's the new Rihanna Video for "Disturbia", seems appropriate for where I'm going. Very horror, gothic, like a Nine Inch Nails or Marilyn Manson video from the mid 90s - re: LOVE IT!
This chick is really giving you high fashion now, and the kind of choreography Janet has been trying to get right for over a year now. Go on Rihanna, grab your spot, your earning it with that haircut and those heels for sure!
DisturbiaRemixes on Monday's Boom Boom Blog Post, Promise!
Master photographer and oldPopMuse friend Thairin Smothers has a fab art exhibit happening at the wonderful World of Wonder Art Gallery in Hollywood. It's a collection of Nightlife Photography focusing on XXX-exy images of Male Strippers (the kind that dance on boxes in gay bars not the kind women hire for Bachelorette Parties).
Go check it out: WORLD OF WONDER GALLERY 6650 Hollywood Boulevard Hollywood, California 90028 gallery@worldofwonder.net
The show runs through July 7th with daytime hours from noon until 6pm Tuesday through Saturdays.
Or Contact ThairinHERE to get info on how to BUY some of this work - you know you want it in your collection.
And because every PopMuse Post deserves a music cue, here's a new raw raunchy backroom remix of Christina's Dirrty. Seemed approp.
Dear George, The Show last night was fantastic. Spot on. Thanks for the amazing AMAZING seats, I can't believe they were better than this guy's?!?
And thanks for sitting me with Sharon Stone (you shit) but far enough away that it didn't become totally HER night.
George, I haven't felt overwhelmed (to the point of tears) at a concert, since
'88, didn't know I still had that in me. But opening with my favorite
little interlude was almost too much to bear. I knew it was coming, but still. Took me 4 songs in to really pull it together. Oh, and thanks for singing "Amazing" to me and Bloghungry, meant the world, you have no idea.
Thanks for reading the blog and playing Hard Day, was magic.
Nice to see Kennytoo, you two and those blazers, OY!
And for pointing out cranky-face Dr. Phil in the front row, that was super funny. Screw him if he got boo'd (although I did kinda feel bad for his wife too. Why didn't she just come with a gay friend???)
Most importantly, Happy Birthday! Was an honor to see you on what will most likely be your last birthday spent ON a stage. (With a cake hand delivered by Bo Derek?!? - if your gonna do it, do it right.)
There were many highlights, but I don't want to spoil it here, for the kids who haven't seen the show yet, but smart to rock a remix or two. And I'm not sure I'll ever get over how shocked I was that you sang "A Different Corner".
For you PopMuse Fans, here's a few random GM songs I'll be listening to today:
Come out and see an excellent Canadian Chick Comedy Troop performing in HOLLYWOOD for one night only, this Tuesday night. All the necessary info is in the ad to the left, (click for larger image). I'm friendly with them so ya know they are AMAZING! PopMuse will be in attendance so say HI! See you there.
That's a happy PopMuse right there. I just got my tickets to George Michael's US Summer Tour. I'm fan club member, (what? yes.) so I got crazy seats, but turns out all you need to get in on the pre-sale is an American Express. So go to Ticketmaster and start buying!
There's an exceptional remix of Rufus Wainwright's track "Tiergarten" floating around. PopMuse LOVES it. It's a great track to start your day with, as I did today. Download Below.
Also Rufus just added some tour dates to his 2008. You should head on over to Ticketmaster and get seats. I've seen Rufus Live too many times to remember, so I'll probably sit this whip out, but I encourage you to support him.
So, if you have been longing for more Acceptable TV like PopMuse has, check out the latest HIGHlarity from the Acceptable Gang... Choose Your Own Selectavision TV. For those of you with micro attention spans, this comedy is for YOU! These pilots are only 30 seconds of funny AND you can vote on 'em too!
And don't forget to watch lots of Channel 101, the birth place of Acceptable, and an actual user generated content provider that works (TV Geek Alert!). Although you have to strain your eyes for the mini "view" button to watch anything, harumph.
Why watch Channel 101 you ask? Oy vey, it's where you can find the master works of Harmon and the gang, some Sarah Silverman stoner space investigations and Jack Black in his underwear AND of course... PLANET UNICORN. (Not a day goes by where Bloghungry doesn't turn to me and say, in his best Feathers-accent,"It's got Jelly Balls in it, I like to chew um." Well, actually, days do go by and no 'jelly balls', but he says it at least once a week, he used to say it like 3 times a week, then it was like once a month, which was sad, now it's more like once a week again, which is OK, I guess. Planet Unicorn Heyyyyy!
Is it me or does Sandra Bernhard look a lot like Debra Messing in this poster? Did she bring a pic of Messing to the photo shoot (or her plastic surgeon?) Anyhoo, Sandy B. is back in NYC with a new show... And she's back on BROADWAY, well, Off-Broadway. If this show is anything like the last one she did in LA, you New Yorkers should check it out.
While we're talking about fun Redheads and theater... Superstar Micah McCain's got a new show happening this weekend. Me, Bloghungry, NilBlog and Nilblogette will be in attendance on Friday Night. See you there!
