PopMuse is off to San Diego Comic-Con for work.  Might have time to post there, but probably not, my apologies.   Have a good weekend! 

Here's the new Rihanna Video for "Disturbia", seems appropriate for where I'm going.  Very horror, gothic, like a Nine Inch Nails or Marilyn Manson video from the mid 90s - re: LOVE IT! 

This chick is really giving you high fashion now, and the kind of choreography Janet has been trying to get right for over a year now.  Go on Rihanna, grab your spot, your earning it with that haircut and those heels for sure!

PopMuse.com is 3 YEARS OLD today.  I've never mentioned blog birthdays before because, well, who really cares?  But since I've got nothing else to say, I thought I would mention it. 

Being the PopMuse has provided many surprises and infinite enjoyment, seriously folks.

Over the years PopMuse has been many things to many people.  We've covered gossip, trends, vintage videos, current vid clips, music downloads, personal revelations, blah blah and boom boom...  It has been a place for me to share my musings of the moment.  And I thank you, my faithful readers, for hanging out at my water cooler.

In honor of PopMuse.com's B-Day I wanted to link some old posts that have received bizarre or noteworthy comments.  Because without you, PopMuse is... you know.

Who knew a Gay Joke about Jared Leto would turn into all this. 

Or that 90's Female White Raptress MISA would illicit an email from the lady herself.

The Return of The Boy Bands

It happens every ten years or so, an onslaught of boy bands and bubblegum pop.  I have lived through 2 huge waves as a full participant and was hoping I would have children by the time my third wave hit (no such luck).  But there is no stopping it once it starts so strap in 'cause it's coming.

I began to do the math ('87, '97, oh shit '07) when I started THIS MIX for Bloghungry.  Then I read THIS POST on Chart Rigger and I knew it had begun.  Personally, I am thrilled.  I'd much rather live in a world of Bubblegum Boy Bands than Grunge Emo-Punks. 

The first Boy Band offerings are "NLT" and "VARSITY".  I'm not sure how I feel about 'Timbaland and Ryan Tedder ' being the 'Max Martin' of this Boy Band Wave, but we'll see.  I like the first things I've heard.  I'm sure there will be much more to say on this topic as it develops but I wanted you PopMuse readers to be prepared.

Apocalyptic White Trash

The Fires in L.A. bring to mind a few things.. First, what WON'T Al Gore do to promote his movie?  FOR CHRISTS SAKE, WE GET IT!  THEY GAVE YOU THE NOBEL PRIZE, NOW STOP ALREADY, WE'LL WATCH AN INCONVENIENT TRUTH! (maybe)  That was a joke, obviously these fires were set by Britney and her damn Newport Lights. 

Sorry, the fires aren't funny, especially when Anderson Cooper is reporting on them.  Coping mechanisms.

The main thing I think about when the fires in LA are a-blaze is Sandra Bernhard's "Apocalyptic White Trash".  Which, since she said these words way back in 1987, everyone has turned into.  Al, Britney, Sandra, even PopMuse.

Hey PopMuse Readers,  I'm at Comicon in San Diego for "the day job" so I won't be updating very often, but here are a few pics of me at The Con.

I will say Dane Coke (umm Cook) is here promoting "Good Luck Chuck" and he is crazy skinny and needs a facial peel in the worst way.  Whatev, no surprise there.

DRUGS ARE BAD

Everyone wants PopMuse to comment on the High School Drama going on with Linds and Brit.  In case you live under a rock (which some of you do) Britney called OK Magazine to do an interview and photo shoot, when she arrived she was wasted beyond belief and had a full-on meltdown.  Lindsey got arrested yesterday for another DUI and Possession of Coke after a car chase with her 2nd assistant.  Links to the details below. 

The thing is, Britney was high on Ecstasy and Booze, hence touching herself uncontrollably (x) and eating fried chicken (malt liquor).  Linds was high on Oxy, Coke and Booze, hence car chase, calling Paps for cash, and stumbling through a sobriety test. 

Drugs are bad, you do dumb things when you are on them, and I'm not talking about DUI and eyes rolling in back of your head during a photo shoot, I'm talking about calling the Paps / Magazine editors, negotiating a cash payment for pics or a stunt or an interview in the hopes of scoring cash, 'cause your accountant won't approve money for mo' drugs.  That's the sad thing here.  These chicks put there lives in the hands of Paps who in turn control the way their lives play out and you should never allow anyone that privilege (accept maybe Benny Medina). 

Enjoy this chapter, I'm hoping it's the last, I'm waaaaaay more interested in Posh & Katie.

And you wonder why everyone wants to be famous?

Paris Hilton is out of jail after only 3 days of her 45 day sentence, due to her feeling sad.  Yup.  Official word is she was "running the risk of a nervous breakdown" so they let her out of jail, to go home and live under house arrest ("Party at Paris House!!!")

Isn't having a nervous breakdown part of being in jail?  I'd think a breakdown would be expected and the judge gave her that sentence to shake her up a bit.  But being a celebrity in LA gets you outta just about any crime.  Just the way it is.

What is really sad is that now that Paris and (soon) Nicole are making DUIs chic, POPMUSE has to be afraid to drive around this damn town, as all of their disciples take the wheel with a handful of Oxy and stomach full of Martini.  Oh you think they don't have fans?  Just look at the psycho comments from a PopMuse Post I did in 2005.  Their fans are nuts for them.

Alex Blagg at Best Week Ever Blog just sent this to PopMuse.  And I must agree... "This Video Contains All Of The Reasons Why Our Society Is Doomed".  As Alex wrote, "Today on E!'s "Sunset Tan" this nutjob Hollywood mom takes her 4th grade daughter to the tanning salon (which is funny enough in and of itself), but goes on and on about wanting her to look "just like Lindsay Lohan" while the E! crawl on the bottom of the screen displays the Lohan arrest/coke story AT THE SAME TIME. The result is, as they say, priceless." Priceless indeed... watch above.

And I just want to make sure you've all seen Britney Spears Latest Open Letter to her fans.  It is a reason to learn how to read, seriously. 

As PopMuse friend MRS wrote me earlier:  "It's a sermon! She better start putting this together as a one-woman show immediately. If she performed this at the House of Blues, I'd fall in love with her all over again. "Being in that vulnerable state and taken to dinners and parties with friends and finding out later you paid for everything was a huge learning lesson for me."  Who knew she was so cheap?

Things that Make Me Happy

Mainly this guy from American Idol, Chris Richardson , or "C. Rich" (as I call him).  If I may sound like a tween girl for a minute, I am LOVING him.  Read the Bio, he loves "Early 90’s Mariah Carey and Christina Aguilera".  UmmmHmmmm.  And "What would people be surprised to learn about you?  Very self-conscious about myself, but hide it well."  Done and done.

And this new song from Macy Gray.  At first I was all, 'what are the music bloggers going on about?'  It's Macy Gray?  The last time I heard her was at Long Beach Gay Pride, where me and BH sat outside the event on a Bridge dangling our feet over water, laughing at how you could actually hear her career ending.  Not so much though, this song is exactly what she should be doing, going after the Starbucks crowd, but with dignity and soul.  Keep listening till you get to the Natalie Cole Backing vocals part before you judge.
