The Family - Screams of Passion

While Bloghungry  spends the weekend reading the new Harry Potter Book, I am reading up on another little Wizard... Prince.  I've had this Prince Biography on my nightstand for too long.  Earlier today I was reading about The Family, one of Prince's side-projects where he recorded all the music and vocals and then brought in players to overdub his voice and perform live.  There were many bands like this... including The Time.  He controlled the imagine of the band too which would explain the make-up and pajamas. 

The Family features ex-Time members St. Paul, Jellybean Johnson, Jerome Benton (who some of you may only remember from Janet's "Control" Video, but he was/is the funkiest hype-man in the business) and Susannah Melvoin, twin sister to Wendy Melvoin (of Wendy & Lisa).  Susannah was also Prince's muse and lover for many years around Purple Rain and Parade (clearly it was an incestious scene). 

Anyway I am dying to find THE FAMILY's only CD somewhere (to buy) I had the vinyl at the time, but have since lost it (sad).  If anyone reading this has the CD and wants to sell it to me... (pretty please!).  Wanna know what The Family's been up to, check out their myspace page HERE.

Also, heads up Prince fans, Wendy and Lisa make an appearance on the new Prince CD "Planet Earth".  Reunited on a recording, finally!
