J. Hud Spotlight

Can we all just collectively agree that Jennifer Hudson is really doing IT with this single?  I mean, really.

As DWH75 said to me: "It's what I wanted to hear for the J Hud Brand -- simple, classy, clean. They were so smart to go light on the production -- her voice is so rich as it is, she don't need no extra topping."

Amen to that.

The video (above) is decent too.  I like the 'at home', 'in alley' and 'on runway' set-up, I could do without the 'Campari' and 'white striped room' set-up.  But it is classic Arista R&B Music Video with 90% beauty shots, and 10% narrative.  No, no, I'm a fan of that, especially when you can make Jennifer look THIS beautiful.  Now that is a shear genius hair cut.

And these remixes...  Just perfect.  2 Mixes, one airy summer fun, one gay pride boom boom.  Done and done.  I hope no one else does mixes of it, these two are fine.

George Michael "25 Live Tour" -- LA FORUM 6-25-08

Dear George,
The Show last night was fantastic.  Spot on.
Thanks for the amazing AMAZING seats, I can't believe they were better than this guy's?!?  Pmatgm_2 And thanks for sitting me with Sharon Stone (you shit) but far enough away that it didn't become totally HER night.

George, I haven't felt overwhelmed (to the point of tears) at a concert, since '88, didn't know I still had that in me.  But opening with my favorite little interlude was almost too much to bear.  I knew it was coming, but still.  Took me 4 songs in to really pull it together.
Gmpionts
Oh, and thanks for singing "Amazing" to me and Bloghungry, meant the world, you have no idea.

Thanks for reading the blog and playing Hard Day, was magic.

Nice to see Kenny too, you two and those blazers, OY!

And for pointing out cranky-face Dr. Phil in the front row, that was super funny.  Screw him if he got boo'd (although I did kinda feel bad for his wife too.  Why didn't she just come with a gay friend???)

Most importantly, Happy Birthday!  Was an honor to see you on what will most likely be your last birthday spent ON a stage.  (With a cake hand delivered by Bo Derek?!? - if your gonna do it, do it right.)

There were many highlights, but I don't want to spoil it here, for the kids who haven't seen the show yet, but smart to rock a remix or two.  And I'm not sure I'll ever get over how shocked I was that you sang "A Different Corner".

For you PopMuse Fans, here's a few random GM songs I'll be listening to today:

See Blake Run

So WOW TV has a new show called "See Blake Run".  I totally stumbled on it knowing nothing, but here's the swirl:

Follow the exploits of WOW runner Blake Jacobs as he drives around town sharing his musings, delivering packages and listening to his own personalized party mix.

This kid's a star. The accent, the t-shirts, the beard, the smile.  Oh and the music cues are very clever too.

If PopMuse was working at WOW I'd prob have a crush on Blake, I have a thing for delivery boys - just ask Bloghungry, (did you know he was delivering Pizzas when we met?)  And if that's not enough, the way Blake say "Michael" (see eps 3) would melt me.

And I can relate, PopMuse's first job in LA was as a runner for a game show, and although it was miserable sitting in all that traffic, going to those entertainment industry offices was kind of glamorous.

PopMuse at 3

Cup2 PopMuse.com is 3 YEARS OLD today.  I've never mentioned blog birthdays before because, well, who really cares?  But since I've got nothing else to say, I thought I would mention it.

Being the PopMuse has provided many surprises and infinite enjoyment, seriously folks.

Over the years PopMuse has been many things to many people.  We've covered gossip, trends, vintage videos, current vid clips, music downloads, personal revelations, blah blah and boom boom...  It has been a place for me to share my musings of the moment.  And I thank you, my faithful readers, for hanging out at my water cooler.

In honor of PopMuse.com's B-Day I wanted to link some old posts that have received bizarre or noteworthy comments.  Because without you, PopMuse is... you know.

LetoWho knew a Gay Joke about Jared Leto would turn into all this

Misa2Or that 90's Female White Raptress MISA would illicit an email from the lady herself.

Nolan1 Or that Nolan Thomas' Mother would come to his "Yo Little Brother" defense.

Mo222 Or that Madonna fans and haters would feel so passionately about "Super Pop".

Cfish08 Or that Carrie Fisher (the human) would find Carrie Fisher (the dog).

Thanks for reading!

Yours,
PopMuse

Elliot Mintz: RAW

Emintz Nilblogette sent me this picture of Elliot Mintz today and it is haunting my soul.  Mintz is a celebrity "Press Representative" who has worked for John & Yoko, Christie Brinkley, Don Johnson, Bob Dylan, and most recently Paris Hilton.  Why do I suddenly hear Michael Jackson singing "Keep it in the closet! (Swack) Doo Dip Doo Dip Dooo...".

Anyway, the pic, from Paris' B-Day Party last night...  Well, it looks like Mintz had a facial peel and thought he could cover up his raw pink skin with orange bronzer.  I think it was successful, no.  Terrifying.

Bought and Sold

Wdi_teaser_27x40_v06_rgb Janet Jackson plays a Couples Therapist (with bad hair) in a new Tyler Perry Film.  Yeah, that would be PopMuse Heaven right there, even the teaser poster gave me a boner.  Looks like Janet is stealing her film career back from Mariah.  Sold.

Mariah_m Mariah Carey's ad campaign for her new Perfume "M".  I was sorta hoping she would call it, "Butterfly" or "Mimi" but there's plenty of time for more fragrances to come.  The ad is a work of airbrush genius.  I love it and I love her.  And the bottle is straight outta Barbie's Dream House (credit MRS on that comment).  Bought.  (via PoolParty)

"Wonder Robbie" Famous

While discussing the new Shirley Bassey CD (amazing by the way) with ol' friend SG, he suggested Shirley remake the Soundtrack for "The Bodyguard" as her next CD.  I suggested she remake the movie too and play all the roles like Norbit meets Victor Victoria.  And then SG sent me this youtube clip (above) and everything stopped.  Meet WONDER ROBBIE.

This is the kind of youtube star that makes me love america, love youtube, and love life.  OK, now watch the below clip.  The video effects alone should win this kid a Nobel Peace Prize.  Is that a futon in the background?  Is he wearing a unicorn t-shirt? Is that film grain?  Is he doing leg stretches?  Yes.  Yes.  Yes.  Yes.  Worship.

"Dancing and singing all the time just like a little girl should."

Alex Blagg at Best Week Ever Blog just sent this to PopMuse.  And I must agree... "This Video Contains All Of The Reasons Why Our Society Is Doomed".  As Alex wrote, "Today on E!'s "Sunset Tan" this nutjob Hollywood mom takes her 4th grade daughter to the tanning salon (which is funny enough in and of itself), but goes on and on about wanting her to look "just like Lindsay Lohan" while the E! crawl on the bottom of the screen displays the Lohan arrest/coke story AT THE SAME TIME. The result is, as they say, priceless." Priceless indeed... watch above.

Britpage And I just want to make sure you've all seen Britney Spears Latest Open Letter to her fans.  It is a reason to learn how to read, seriously.

As PopMuse friend MRS wrote me earlier:  "It's a sermon! She better start putting this together as a one-woman show immediately. If she performed this at the House of Blues, I'd fall in love with her all over again. "Being in that vulnerable state and taken to dinners and parties with friends and finding out later you paid for everything was a huge learning lesson for me."  Who knew she was so cheap?

Method Hand Soap 2.0

758124992161e4ea28528edbdee95144 Just when you thought you'd gotten bored with Method Products they've released a new hand soap and I love it.  "Who cares about hand soap," you ask?  PopMuse does and for years I spent too much money on this Cucina and this L'occitane soap.  But then I converted over to the fair priced and fresh smelling Method Soap.  From there I adopted the Method Dish Soap then Method Dish Cubes.  Anyway, I was just feeling like my Method days were over when I discovered their new Hand Soap.  ...and Babies, I'm back!  I'm not sure it's available at Target yet, but you can buy it on-line as I did and all three flavors White Tea, Almond Flower, and Olive Leaf are divine.

i need this iphone

1dsc_0182I can't breathe, I can't sleep, I need this phone!  Confirming my theory that buying Apple is buying designer and buying PC is buying knockoff...  Apple just premiered their new ipod-cellphone-pda yesterday called "iPhone" and it is everything you could ever want in a cell phone, done is the most gorgie design EVAH!  Of course we will all have to go to Cingular (ugh) to get the phone, and it's gonna cost $500, but beauty is pain children... Beauty. is. pain.  Check out these pics from ENGADGET.  And go to ENGADGET to read more on this amazing new tech toy.
