Here's the latest PopMuse Mix! It's NOT Holiday Music. It's not ALL Boom Boom but there's Boom on there. It's a massive mix of many styles and ideas, a GIFT for all of you this Holiday Season from PopMuse. (MBP are my real life initials kids.)
There's plenty more notes, thoughts and explanations in the Liner Notes attached in the download folder.
We have a tradition of doing out there Holiday Cards for you kids each year. (See: 2008 / 2007 / 2006) I think we outdid ourselves this year. It speaks for itself. May you have a Nancy Meyer's Holiday my kind readers!
[Big thanks to the Bad Movie Night Crew for the amazing photoshop work and creative development.]
Been trying to find the perfect gift for that special someone who has a shared love of Whoopi Goldberg and Whoopie Pies? Well look no further... My beloved husband Bloghungry has started selling his artwork on ETSY.
The series he's selling now are called "STAR FOOD" and "KITCHEN FANTASY". Each piece is priced stupid cheap $10 (he feels they look best in multiples, so he's pricing them accordingly.) Having seen them in person, they are a F*ing STEAL and he should totally up that price!!!
Get a closer look here on his ETSY PAGE, and buy buy buy. This is your way of getting a little tangible piece of Bloghungry and PopMuse in your very own home!
Did you know Hello Kitty is 35 years old? (Same as me boo! So why does she looks so much younger???) There is a very cool exhibit in LA right now (through Nov. 15th) celebrating her birth.
The Royal T Cafe and Gallery in Culver City has been transformed into a Hello Kitty Paradise. Bloghungry and PopMuse went to the preview event last night and had fun checking out the scene. Don't worry, we are going to bring Lily down there later, when it is a little less crowded, and before her bedtime.
Modern Art Stars like Baseman, Luke Chueh (a PopMuse fav) and Buff Monster give their spin on Ms. Kitty. PopMuse, of course, was most interested in the Lady Gaga Photographs (pictured above.)
There are more events happening, so check out the schedule and make sure you stop by.
So a few weeks ago DWH told me about the booklet for Mariah's Imperfect Angel CD, but I just found it on-line and saw for myself... Ummmm WOW!!!! I think I had read about the Elle Magazine tie-in, but this crazy fanzine exceeds anything Elle has ever produced.
I'm so happy Mariah's Mariah-ness is in full bloom and America is on-board with each crazy step she takes. I mean, going back and recreating old Album covers, (with photoshop mainly) and not doing all of them, just a few - hilarious, love her.
You may have heard about this booklet, but looking at it is a whole experience. AND you finally get a chance to read the impossible brilliant lyrics to "Up Out My Face" -- "Not even a nail technician with a whole lotta gel and acryllic can fix this." Works on so many level, no? Enjoy!
Boy George's Twitter is like an all day DJ Set of youtube clips, music tracks and random stills. His taste is so eclectic and so fierce, you should really tune in (tweet in) and be surprised by his brilliance all over again. Who else can throw you Louis Armstrong and Kim Wilde in the same set?
Boy is live mixing in multi-media from the safety of his home to a faceless audience, who can comment or not, in real time. As always he is an innovator. I know, I know, you've been uploading clips to Twitter and FB for months where is your PopMuse Post? Well you aren't Boy nor do you have his taste or talent, sorry. This, my friends, is a Twitter I can stand behind wholeheartedly.
Above and below are two clips that absolutely blew my mind.
While you are all flitting around over Gaga's new video for Euro Single "Paparazzi" (and rightfully so, it's so f*cking revolutionary I don't think I'm ready to talk about it yet.) PopMuse is instead going to fall over the Stuart Price Remix.
ALL the remixes are pretty sick, but the Stuart Price one features a new vocal arrangement, which is so damn smart of her to do. I always thought the artists that did a re-record for a remix are a step above the rest. At this point Gaga is a space shuttle mission above the rest so that she bothered to do it is impressive for different reasons.
Here are the remixes...
Lady Gaga "Paparazzi" (Stuart Price Mix) A whole new sound for both Stuart and Gaga - they should do a few tracks for her next CD together. They clearly elevate each other to higher heights, (and we hear Madonna gently weeping in a corner while texting Pharrell for the LAST time.)
Love Peaches, love this new song, want to hear the new CD (anyone, anyone?), love that she isn't using guitars on this outting (guitars... anyone, anyone?). But this post isn't about Peaches-worship, you can go anywhere for that... PopMuse just wanted to point out how much Peaches is channeling Sandra Bernhard these days. I (somehow?) never noticed her lips and teeth are identical to SB's but the whole mannerisms, dancing, everything, it's like an impression?!?
And side note, wouldn't Sandra have just killed to record a song like this, all early 80s Pat Benatar and what not... Oh it must burn her up! Anyway, Peaches - love, Sandy - love. Enjoy.
BONUS: This is Sandra as Madonna on her last tour. I could watch Sandy prance around saying "I've got 4 minutes to save the world" for hours and hours and never get tired of it. Watch the whole thing it goes to places.
I hate to give away ideas like this for free, I really do, and I swore I wouldn't do it anymore, but it is too early to think clearly and I'm feeling very giving... How about you remake "Troop Beverly Hills"? A 2010 version where the sexy 2nd wife wins over the heart of her step daughter with her Troop Leader skills? I'm not sure where, but there is definitely a place for Tori Spelling in the cast. Huh, huh takers?
This song (above) must stay intact, I insist on that, it's a deal-breaker. PopMuse will take his name off of this suggestion if "Cookie Time" is altered.
Back in 2004 this STARS song saved my life. It popped on my iTunes yesterday and kinda pulled me back into that head space. (Wasn't the only thing...) Reminded me of how we shatter things, sometimes, when they are too perfect, and how necessary that awful habit is, because NOTHING is perfect - NOTHING. "When there's nothing left to burn you have to set yourself on fire."
