...as only JoJocould. While all you Pop Music Bloggers lose your tits over Whitney, Mariah, and Madonna newness, PopMuse is entrenched in a deep JoJo moment. This song is perfect. Forgetaboutit, if you are gonna do Alicia Keys and you aren't Alicia Keys, you do it just like this. Weep.
Bummer JoJo is in a lawsuit with her label, because this track dance-remixed would be earth shattering, (a little pause after each "My Love" in the chorus and oh man what Jody DB could do with that soaring end note?!?) Make it happen kids!!!
Bunch of guys in the Fire Island Pines made a music video for the new trashtastic Miley Cyrus song "Party in the USA". I can't believe it on so many levels. Yet I want to help them get youtube hits really bad. What is that about? Oh right, they are they are having genuine innocent fun, how novel, how GAY. Sweet.
FYI: Sundance Channel is playing all of Bruce Weber'sDocs this month. Make sure to check out Chop Suey, a film that has somehow never been released on DVD. His docs say they are about this and that, but don't let that scare you, they are only about his signature photography (ya know the stuff you masturbated to as a kid) come to life. Check it.
Sundance Channel Dot Com has a virtual gallery filled with info on Weber and his work for those of you unaware.
DJ Rampus is back... He said this is a bunch of Boom Boom tracks that didn't make it on his last few mixes. Still a seriously good line-up. Lots of club and pop hits on this one. You know how PopMuse likes a name brand mix too! (did that last part make sense?)

*And for those of you still on the fence about joining the site to d'load, DO IT. I've never gotten a scrap of email from joining and once you do, these links are direct downloads so you wont even have to leave PopMuse to start the d'load. Worth it kids, and means a lot to Mixmaster Rampus (aka Bjarne),
A PopMusefan from Malaysia sent this and... I LOVE IT!!! How adorable is this new Swedish Duo? Pretty damn adorable! THE SOUND OF ARROWS has shades of Passion Pit, Thompson Twins, JUSTICE, WHAM!, Prince's doves, New Romantic vocal effects, and a thoroughly modern fantasy pop video. Oh and verrr Gay in the most delightful way. Their promo pics certainly helped get my attention so here they are... lots of other great tunes of theirs on YouTube, dig around. I dont have an mp3 to share, but maybe someone will send me one or drop one in the comments (hint).
After a so much Boom Boom this summer, I decided to do a Journal Entry Mix, something more thoughtful and reflective of this time in my life. Songs that have been my salvation this summer, which has been pretty damn eventful!
If you are a regular music blog reader you probably already have many of these tracks (you may have even picked them up here), but my non-Boom Mixes are more about storytelling than getting you the freshest hottest fastest.
*Don't worry there is still lots of New Pop and Dance Tracks, just a greater meaning behind the choices and sequencing than the usual 'Boom dee Boom Boom Boom'. And yes, DAMN that's a long ass title, but I loooooove it!
Oh I almost forgot... While I was working on this mix, i turned the laptop camera on and filmed Lily and I listening to "Fireflies". My favorite part is when she yawns right on the lyric cue "to tired to fall asleep". Amazing, and so my daughter. See Below...
Love this Peaches video. It's a builder, give it a minute, you'll love where it goes.
I saw her in an interview saying she did this as a performance art piece for real. People signed up in groups of two, came to her apartment not knowing anything more than they were seeing a Peaches Performance Art Piece and they got this. Amazing.
So sad. PopMuse could never write enough about how his films contributed to the man I am today.
Of all the legendary music cues he used in his films and oh man are there many, (the Sixteen Candles Soundtrack is perfection see link at bottom of this post, HELLO first person to break WHAM! in the US?!?) It's this cue (link below this paragraph) from The Dream Academy that is my all-time favorite. A few years back I went on the hunt for the instrumental Hughes used in Ferris Bueller and found it. It's Downloadable here...
Finding all 21 music cues from Sixteen Candles (even the ones not included on the long out-of-print soundtrack) was another major mission, I thought this was a nice occasion to share that too. Enjoy! SIXTEEN CANDLES FULL SOUNDTRACK
Rampus (aka Bjarne) has a new Mixtape I want you all to D'load. Lots of great Boom Boom Dance Stuff mixed by the master. Things I hadn't heard too, like that Ciara mix, hot! Who is JLS? New boyband? That "Outta Here" track has really grown on me. And SHAWN CHRISTOPHER!!!

A few people have asked PopMuse to comment on the new Whitney track and this morning sweet Philip from Ameriqueer asked me to comment on Madonna's latest. And it occurred to me, my feelings are similar for both, DEPRESSED.
Whitney "I Look To You" I'm not hating on the song lyrics, I like when a star refers to their personal drama in a lyric. And it is a perfectly suitable Adult Contemporary song. But the voice, oh, the lost voice. Listening to how Crack has ravaged her vocal chords is too depressing for me to listen to. This new register she is singing in just reminds me of the voice that once was. Maybe the full CD will reveal something else. But it bums me out to listen to it here.
Madonna "Celebration" The beat and synth is straight out of an "Above & Beyond" Remix from 2002, but I'm not hating that, I liked that sound a lot. It's these recycled lyrics and the tired take on the party/celebration theme, and more of those irritating "Yeahhhh"-s she WILL NOT STOP DOING. It all screams of laziness, and if there was one thing I never thought I'd say about Madonna was that she was lazy.
That said I'm sure it will kill in gay clubs and Ibiza, and I like that she is playing to that audience, it suits her. Oh and I like the talking in the break. And the Oakenfold signature touches are cute and yes the Benassi Remix is fun too... I guess I just hoped for more from her in this time in her life. She has nothing to prove to anyone, her minions will follow her anywhere, why not be risky now?
Want a song about Celebration? Listen to the new Mika (an artist I had no love for until I saw his latest video.) This is a mature song about celebration. And the video is absolutely JOYOUS. Imagine if Madonna put her lame poetry journal to the side and let someone like Mika write lyrics for her? Imagine if Madonna sang this for her Greatest Hits Package:
"Teenage dreams in a teenage circus
Running around like a clown on purpose
Who gives a damn about the family you come from?
No giving up when you’re young and you want some."
