Prince On Tavis Smiley

PopMuse is a HUGE Prince Fan.  Know that.  So of course I watched him on Tavis Smiley, and it was a very strange 45 minutes.  Prince is clearly still completely obsessed with "The Evil" Recording Industry and his position as a legend and a massive victim (strange combo).  I mean, 'the industry' is pretty evil, I'll agree with that, but is there anything else going on in his thought process?  Tavis is asking questions about the new music and Prince is responding about the industry.  Makes me wonder if he is making music just for money now.  Prince, enough about those damn Soundscans already. 

Also, I'm not a fan of the new 3 Disc Collection Lotus Flower, this review says it all.  But, watch the full interview, it's fascinating to see him speak, and I love his heels.

Peaches Channeling Sandra

Love Peaches, love this new song, want to hear the new CD (anyone, anyone?), love that she isn't using guitars on this outting (guitars... anyone, anyone?).  But this post isn't about Peaches-worship, you can go anywhere for that... PopMuse just wanted to point out how much Peaches is channeling Sandra Bernhard these days.  I (somehow?) never noticed her lips and teeth are identical to SB's but the whole mannerisms, dancing, everything, it's like an impression?!? 

And side note, wouldn't Sandra have just killed to record a song like this, all early 80s Pat Benatar and what not... Oh it must burn her up!  Anyway, Peaches - love, Sandy - love.  Enjoy.

So, I'm curious about Funny Or Die...  Who pays for these videos?  Not the small little home made ones, the big Celeb ones.  Are people working for free in the hopes they have created the next great Viral Video?  It's been bothering me and I'd like an answer. 

This spot (above) could not have been THAT cheap to shoot.  Is the Will Farrell's Gang footing the bill for these celeb infested comedy clips?  Because in these economic times shouldn't the scripts or concepts be tighter than this one.  Why waste Justin Long's time (and lung capacity) on something so pedestrian?

Although I will say, Zefron is such a HUGE star the minute he is on camera the whole thing elevates, I'll give him that.

Boom Boom Blog 4-17-09

Boom Boom Time Boys and Girls.  This collection of Boom Boom is a little harder, deeper, darker than my usual fair.  I didn't notice it till I heard Bjarne's Continuous Mix.  I got a little Black Party, Tweaker After-Hours on you children this time.  Scandalous.  Hope you enjoy this collection, notes on each track below...

Depeche Mode - Wrong (Peter Rauhofer Vocal Mix)  This mix is certainly not as epic as Rauhofer's "It's No Good", but it's worth a listen.  Is super DARK.

Utada - Come Back To Me (Seamus Haji & Paul Emanuel Club Mix)  I guess I'm late to this Utada thing, but I like this remix, it's the usual Haji / Emanuel sound you know and love.

Ciara and Justin - Love Sex Magic (Pokerface Radio)  Mixes are getting better and better.  This is such a summer jam, I can't take it!

The Ting Tings - That's Not My Name (Soul Seekerz Dirty Vocal Mix)  Oh I want to love this, but I don't.  I heard it out and it blew my mind, but listening at home - eh.  I put it here in case you want to take it to your local club and spin it.

Britney - Unusual You (Geo Iezzi Private Mix)  Favorite song on her CD, remixed all late 90s Circuit Boy Stylee - WORSHIP!!!

Britney - Circus (Tyler Nelson Twisted Club Mix)  There are moments in this mix that will shake you to your core.  @4:19 - she should incorporate into her live show.

Kina - Me (Sound Systems Dub '09)  None of you will ever know how much I lived for this track back in 2000.  One memory involves the Bed Bath and Beyond Parking Lot at The Beverly Center, BLARING the original Remix.  Like this new take on it too (not that different actually...)

Alanis "Underneath" Lost Daze Extended Mix  This mix is old, yes, was completely ignored by all (including myself).  Then it jumped on my iTunes Randomly and took me to a really good place, for that reason I'm bringing it back.  It's sweetness isn't to be ignored any longer.

Cory Ray - Shadow of the Day (Ronnie Maze DJRobSD Edit)  Talk about sweetness...  Finally a really upbeat, summer sun remix after all this Darkenss.  And you know I love a male vocal on a house jam, right???

AND here's Bjarne's Continuous Mix of this collection of tracks.  Great DJ work as always, so happy he does these, we should all thank him!!!  (And somehow he really brought the Ting Tings Back to life for me, maybe it just needs to be in a DJ Set?)  You'll love this round-up...

BabyGirl PopMuse-Bloghungry in 4-D

That's our baby in utero.  She's cute right?  The technology they use to get these pics is insane.  I have a video of the whole thing but it kinda makes her look like an alien, (in some shots) so I don't think I'll post it.  Bloghungry said it reminded him of the scene's from Rihanna's Umbrella Video when she is covered in silver paint, which made me laugh, and another friend Nilblogette said Mariah Carey would kill for this lighting, that made me laugh too. 

Anyway, it was really nice to be a part of the pregnancy (can be tough on the Dads when they are far away).  BabyGirl is due in July and we can't wait.  Oh and we built the crib yesterday too, which wasn't as hard as they make it look in 80s Comedies.

I know some of you are like me and notice the songs playing around you, 'life's soundtrack' if you will, so, this was the song playing on the radio in the lobby of the office after the Ultrasound, seemed appropria

Here's some Boom Boom Dance Tracks I've found on-line in the past few weeks. Some great stuff in here...  Notes on each track below.  

PopMuse is gonna be road tripping with Bloghungry for a week, (heading out to visit our Surrogate and get another sneak peak at the little girl with one of those 4D Ultrasounds.)  So I'm prob not gonna be able to PopMuse much, but I promise to be back at it soon, so enjoy these tracks in my absence.

Rihanna "Breaking Dishes" (Ralphi & Craig J Mix)  It makes me uncomfortable to listen to Ri-Ri these days.  There is something about the details of that mess with Chris Brown that keeps me from enjoying her music...  But maybe it doesn't for you, and if not, your gonna LOVE this mix.

Mary J. Blige "Just Fine" (Moto Radio Mix)   It's old, but it's such a major jam, I needed to share it again.  It's that piano happy house Sunday afternoon beach party vibe.

Mariah "I'm That Chick" (Tony Moran Club Mix)  This just appeared out of no where.  It's not the best quality, at all, but it is essential listening for all you Mariah Lambs.  I'll re-post when the clean version comes out but for now, take a listen, is HOT.

Britney "If U Seek Amy" (Bimbo Jones Mix)   I can't believe they chose this song as a single...  M-M-Mistake.  And that video is ridiculous.  I mean, really?  We get it, you want to live in a sex dungeon in your private life and are being forced to project the happy housewife in public life.  Got it, got it, is anyone finding that even remotely sexy?  Go get your roots done and re-shoot the clip with Ellen Von Unwerth.

Dean Coleman f/DCLA "I Want You" (Dave Aude Remix)  I don't know much about it except it is AMAZING!!!  Love the male vocal, as I do.

Lykke Li "Little Bit" (Villains Remix)  There is more life in this song?  Yup.

Ciara feat. Justin Timberlake "Love Sex Magic" (Jason Nevins Radio Edit)  There is a better mix of this, which I will post eventually.  But let this get you started in your obsession with this early-summer jam.

Love Takes Over (Arno Cost & Norman Doray Remix - featuring Kelly Rowland)  What's funny is, as all of you heard this track you thought of me and sent it to PopMuse, which was VERY SWEET of you.  And you were right to do so, I do love it.  What I don't love is how evil Matthew Knowles is.  Dude, Beyonce is fine, no one is gonna steal her shine, stop trying to destroy everyone around her orbit.

Pink "Please Dont Leave Me" (Digital Dogs Mix)  The emergency teams are still trying to breath life into this Pink cycle.  This worked.  Remix beautifully compliments the song.
