J. Hud to Marry PUNK???
I don't know how I missed THIS detail of the J. Hud engagement news story. But she is getting married to VH1's "I Love New York" toss-off PUNK. OK, really? She found love in the New York throw-away pool? Seriously?
I thought she was Miss 'I've been with the same man since high school.' A man who was with her through Am Idol, the silence after Am Idol, the rise again, the Oscar. And then she ends up engaged to PUNK? Oh hell NO!
I've been trying to figure out why I hate her new CD so much, and I thought it was because it feels so completely NOT-her to me.
With all those promises she made about it being sooooo different from the other current R&B Projects, saying, 'My CD will NOT be your typical contemporary R&B.' Ummm, you have T-Pain on your CD, you have Auto-Tune, a Luda Rap, some bullshit 'boy is mine' duet with Fantasia, the pre-req Timbaland nonsense, Missy, Ne-Yo, sounds pretty typical contemporary R&B to me. BUT...
But now I have someone to blame... PUNK! Because I really don't want to blame her. I LOVE J. Hud. So I'm putting this mess on PUNK, bitches. Aaaaaaaand, exhale.
New York's quote on this topic [from Defamer]:
“It’s a mixed match, it won’t work,” she says. “He’ll be in her shadow like Al Reynolds was to Star Jones, like Stedman Graham is to Oprah.” There’s also a good reason David wasn’t the right match for Tiffany on I Love New York 2. “When we were in Miami together, he didn’t even try anything [on me]!” she says. “Maybe I wasn’t his type, maybe I wasn’t big enough for him.”
I Worship New York. And will hope for a complete turn around from J. Hud's next musical outting, I do love a Divorce CD, just saying.
You are not alone. I thought her CD was to be different. I only like the 1st half of it.
And PUNK found another meal ticket. can you blame him? LOL.

Don't make me hit you with my J. Hud CD...
That duet is HILARIOUS. Almost 25% of it's running time is dialogue where they USE THEIR REAL NAMES. And then J. Hud follows "I ain't got nothing else to say" by wailing for 3 minutes (albeit, over pedestrian R&B).
Maybe you're getting old...

I'm with you on the JHud CD. They threw as many "current" styles at the wall to see what would stick. I actually like the second half of the disc better, where there are fewer gimmicks and more singing. But yeah...the duets are both bombs.

Something has always been fishy with Punk. Every moment he was on I Love NY, was a moment of, "You have a respectable life, what are you doing HERE?"
Let's flashback: Punk's quiet, sweet mother delivered the best reaction shot of the whole series, trying to remain classy while Sis Pat and the Entertainer's mom flipped out on each other. And he was a Harvard Law grad, no? He fell deep in love with New York, who responded by saying she felt comfortable enough with him to take a dump with the door open. So maybe we need to remember when J. Hud was making her own clothes and getting shit from Simon for it on Idol, when SHE was more I Love New York than Dreamgirls.
Either he loves a voluptuous, funny black woman who he can't find in his buttoned-up law circle, or he's gay. Basically, he's Steadman OR he's Al Reynolds.

As good as gay, yes.
