Boom Boom Blog 4-30-08

Pic6 I guess it's Boom Boom Dance Mix time.  Here's the latest D'Loads I've collected for you crack heads.  Enjoy, PopMuse

MADONNA "GIVE IT 2 ME" (Oakenfold Edit Mix)
Ugh more and more Madonna Mixes every minute, I know it's all you kid want though, so, here.

EURYTHMICS "Oh No the Rain is Coming Again 2008" (Unreleased Remix)
Funny story... One New Years in the 90s I was at Salvation in Miami and the DJ played this song at Midnight.  The same night I saw someone die in the bathroom of the club.  So I'll always have a soft spot in my heart for this song.  (P.S. I was hallucinating so hard I don't even know if that bathroom event really happened or not.  What?  It was dark.  OH the 90s!)

Estelle ft. Kayne "American Boy" (Soulseekerz Club Mix)
Stop trying to sell this girl on me.  It's not gonna work.  Oops it just did. And ya know how I feel about Soulseekerz Synth.

365 "One Touch" (Bimbo Jones Mix)
U.K. Boy Band remixed by Bimbo, bbbbrilliant.

Ashlee Simpson "Outta My Head (Ay Ya Ya)" (Dave Aude Club Mix)
Tech Mix, the vocal speeds up in the middle and that makes me laugh.  I'd never play this on a dancefloor, but is fun on the treadmill.

Ricki Lee "U Wanna Little Of This" (Club Mix)
Pure hands in the air stuff.

MADONNA "4 Minutes" (Jacques Lu Cont's Thin White Duke Mix)
Let's just say it, Stuart Price is way above remixing this song, I hope he had his assistant do it.

Sam Sparro "Black And Gold" (Russ Chimes Mix)
So in love with Sam right now.  He's the male Robyn, think about it.  Internet Phenom, good looking but not quite Britney, ya know wot I mean?  Anyway, love his CD too much, and love this mix too.

BOOM BOOM FLASHBACK:

Monica "Get It Off" (That Kid Chris Edit)
UNREALNESS.  My itunes dropped this on me in a shuffle moment and it turned me to mush.  This was H.O.T.

ScarJo Music Video

I think this Scarlett Johansson Music Video is absolutely beautiful.  PopMuse LOVES IT.

I've heard the whole CD and I find it haunting and powerful.  It's a collection of Tom Waits Covers.  When I first listened to it, well, it starts with an instrumental track, which I thought was bizarre.  Then the first vocal hit and I thought, how strange to start it with some dude singing?  Then as the song progressed I realized it was her singing.  To me, that's success.

Her voice is so distinctive.  And the sound is so perfectly modern glamour goth (note Bowie doing his best performance in years on the track above).  And yes, even the PopMuse needs a break from Timbaland and Danja productions once in a while.  I'm not a fan of Tom Waits, but I like her covers of him, can you handle that?  And the video, oh the gorgie she giving in this clip... dear lord.  Who directed? Lance Accord?

If you hate it and are looking for fellow haters, you can commune HERE.

OR BUY IT HERE.

Cooking With The Hills

If I had to encapsulate all of (my man) Bloghungry's hatred of "The Hills" in a video clip, this would be the one.  In fact if I had to capture all the things Bloghungry dislikes about Los Angeles in a video clip, this would be the one.  This moment is ridic, who doesn't know the words for 'Pots and Pans'?  The ladies on The Hills, that's who.  Watch above or HERE.

AND YES, I'm re-watching the old episodes of The Hills on The N (look deep on your Guide, it's there) and I'm loving every minute of it.  PopMuse misses Elodie and Heidi's old face, bad.

Also, if you know The Hills then you know and love this song...  (thanks Foxy)

Viva Hollywood! -- MUST WATCH TV!!!

OMG, like amazing, AMAZING!  You must watch!  The characters, the competition, the CAMP.  So happy World of Wonder made this show.  Just when you think every facet of entertainment has been exploited reality-style, TELENOVELA! IN-GEN-IOUS!!!

The elimination is like nothing you have seen before.  Well, of course you have seen it before on American Idol (3 judges) and Big Brother (contestants private voting for eliminee - PopMuse LOVES that.)  But this elimination has about 4 steps, all of which are riveting and theatrical and at the end someone dies, yup, "MUERTE" Muthaf*ckers.

And don't get me started on Maria Concita playing every judge on reality TV in one, she must be exhausted!  Especially with all that drinking she's doing; tequila, champagne, this is no Paula Abdul under the table sh*t, she's pounding.  MAJOR.  Tune in PopMuse fans, TUNE IN.

C. Fish watches IKMKAS

Carrie Fisher (the dog) got a haircut yesterday.  Always traumatic for her.  We came home from the groomers and watched an episode of VH1's "I Know My Kid's A Star" (which is a new low in reality TV, so of course, I love it; not "Showbiz Moms & Dads" LOVE it, but love it in a diff way.)

I thought Carrie's reaction to the show was camera worthy (as was her new hairdo), so I pulled out the FLIP and filmed this video.  Little did I know I would capture such a deep moment.  It's heavy stuff, the memories, the anger, the confusion, the circle of life acted out on TV and in her own reality.  The questions, 'Will there always be a domineering parent forcing me to clean up my act?'  It's some powerful video.  So turn up the volume and watch above, or HERE.

Mariah Carey - Touch My Body [orangeFUZZZ Touchy Feely Radio Mix]
Orangefuzz mixes are very 2004 for me, but it's fun pop mixing and I like how he manipulates the vocals.

JANET "Rock With U" (Ranny's Miami Mix)
Surprised J ain't doing more official remixes to this song?

Jordan Sparks w/ Chris Brown "No Air" (Nevin Mix)

PopMuse Like Glass Candy

Glasscandy PopMuse is loving this Portland duo Glass Candy.  Here's the blurb:  Portland based Duo Johnny Jewel and Ida No (as in "What's your name?" I dunno) gave birth to this amazing swayed-back space disco with glitterball vocals.

All I know is they are serving up some serious BLONDIE -realness.  Check them out...

Shelter / Jury Duty

Shelter3 Shelter is a good gay film. Bloghungry and I went to see it Friday after my horrible day of Jury Duty (more on that below).  Shelter is a surfer, O.C., coming out, rich vs. poor, older vs. younger love story.  It's a drama and indie to the core, which was refreshing actually.  See it.  You can VOD it on HERE! Network or see it in theaters and soon on DVD I'm sure.

Jd1 Here's some iphone photos I took during Jury Duty on Friday.  The Los Angeles Jury System is so flawed and I can't even begin... well yes I can.  It's like sitting in Purgatory for hours, and if they call your name, prepare to face your maker and beg NOT to be sent to hell (ala a Jury).

Jd2 And if you think I'm exaggerating, fine, YOU go be on a Jury, you'll make a better Juror than I will.  But of course that's not how it works.  The fine Americans sitting in that room, who want out of their miserable jobs, have unlimited pay for Jury days, and love Law & Order DON'T don't get called, I do.

Jd3 And yes I had to fight for my life NOT to get put on a 15 day Gang Trial, and thank Ally McBeal look-a-like lawyers I got excused.  But not until I had been stripped of my dignity by an arrogant starf*cker homophobe Judge.  Ahhh love that legal system.  Anyway, it is HEAVEN not having to go back on Monday.  Heaven.

New Kids On The Block - New Single

Clickclickclick When PopMuse first heard the rumors about an NKOTB reunion, I thought, the Spice Girls can, you guys can't.  The ladies can still sing those songs with smiling faces, but men in their 40s sing "Hangin' Tough" with a straight faces?  I don't think so.  Well, I guess I'm gonna have to find out, because yesterday I d'loaded their new single and DaHHHHAM, it's BRILL.

Yes, REALLY.  You might think it's just a mid tempo R&B track at first listen, but it's so much more.  It's got an echo-y electro synth line straight off an ATB Chillout CD from 2000.  Laidback zexy vocals, with the exception of Jordan, that are unrecognizable.  Who is singing that last verse?  Danny, who knew?  What is that vocal filter, and nasal throaty runs, hot-ness.

And how can you resist a song with 2 hot hooks, "Click Click Click" and "Pose for me, Pose for me."  I'm envisioning a Fincher-esque music video with Armani Suits, Veuve Champagne, Corbusier Chairs, and lot's of camera product placement, now don't dissapoint.

Soooo who produced this track?
