PopMuse saw Annie Lennox in concert last week and it was such an amazing show. I've seen her live before but each time I am reminded what an incredible performer she is. For this whip she is performing in front of projections her old videos. Which is quite bold as some of them are twenty years old and well, how different did you look 25 years ago? But whatever, she rises above 'fear of aging' stuff, she's Annie Lennox.
The Tour is short and she's playing tiny venues, but it's worth the attempt to get tickets. You won't be dissapointed, she plays everything you want to hear and more.
Highlights from the show were "When Tomorrow Comes" (video above.) I love those lyrics SO much. As a lifer insomniac, I can totally relate to writing a song about watching someone sleep...
"You know you looked just like a baby
Fast asleep in this dangerous world.
Every star was shining brightly
Just like a million years before.
And we were feeling very small
Underneath the universe."
Another highlight was "Pavement Cracks", which works better live than recorded. Below is the mp3, plus an amazing remix by Gabriel and Dresden.
