I am a HUGE Prince fan. But I'm obsessed with Prince circa 1984-1989, especially the Wendy & Lisa years. Download blogger GREATER LOS ANGELES is a fellow Prince fan and posts tons of Prince rarities. Amongst his latest is the selved 1986 Prince CD "Dream Factory"... Read this blurb from wikipedia :
"Dream Factory began life in late 1985 after the Parade album was completed. Much like preceding albums Around the World in a Day and Parade, Dream Factory was written by Prince in collaboration with Wendy and Lisa but to an even greater degree. The album started as a single set of nine songs, but evolved quickly to a double album with a large body of tracks being considered or rejected. A final configuration of the album was finished and mastered, but just before the album was to be released The Revolution dissolved amidst personal and professional tensions; Prince then shelved the highly-collaborative album in his infamous "vault" in a desire to return to his "one-man-band" ways of recording."
It features many tracks that ended up on "Sign O The Times" (PopMuse's No. 1 Favorite CD of all time.) But some of the versions are diiferent. It's essential listening for any Prince fan, or Prince novice trying to figure out the new Justin Timberlake CD, it all began here kiddies.

Dream Factory would have been a perfect follow up. Bittersweet listening to it, because I loved Prince & the Revolution
A song you have to check out if you want to experience what was happening 1985 Dream Factory is Power Fantastic. It was supposed to be on the album.
You can buy it at amazon.com
Power Fantastic was recorded mid March 1985
a song based on a composition by Lisa Coleman called "Carousel"
according to engineer Susan Rogers
Prince sang in a corner of the room
It was some of the most intimate experience of her career:
She felt at the very center of artistic creation
Eric Leed, who played a lilting flute solo
walked out of the studio feeling goose bumps
"That's one of the greatest things we ever did," he remembered
Susan Rogers noted this song was "Nailed in one take"

A lot of these songs that didn't make it to Sign O the Times ended up on the 4 CD set Crystal Ball that was released to Blockbuster stores in 1998. Others have been trading around online for a few years now. Ther's this BSDM guy from England over on Livejournal who has hard drives full of Prince live recordings and rarities - his collection is unbelievable.
Listening to this makes me yearn for the days when the likes of Prince and Madonna didn't live so much in their legend and just made fun, sexy, yet GREAT music.

I also was a Prince Obsessive. And I too got that same Parade bootleg, in the Village called "Charade" if I'm not mistaken. Mine had "Old Friends 4 Sale" on it—the original version, not the watered down, over produced version that ended up on THE VAULT.

We have more in common than cute dogs. I am an obsessive (or WAS) Prince fan, though it's not clear from my blog. I have a zillion things but did not have some of these. Interesting, All My Dreams was on a version of Parade I bought in the West Village in like 1989. It also had alt versions of some of those tracks and one I have not found since, Heaven ("you'll know when you go..."). And a terrible song called There's Others Here With Us. Anyway, let me know if you are looking for any tracks...
