Regina Spektor: Jewess Of The Year

I can NOT stop listening to this Regina Spektor song "Fidelity" (below).  The video (above) is pretty too (watch the whole thing, it has a great payoff.)  Who is Regina Spektor you ask?  She's a fantastic singer-songwriter who's blog buzz is starting to dwindle way too soon, so PopMuse wants to give her another push.  Regina is basically Fiona Apple, Nellie McKay, and Tori Amos.  Except her new CD is good, really good.

Cin Cin Vs. The Papp 1992

I'm not really into The Emmy's.  Until they are giving awards to 'Sumthing' for shitting on Flav's floor on Flavor Of Love, I'll pass, but I'm way excited about the upcoming VMAs.  In my excitement I've been digging around in the PopMuse Video Archives and found this little gem from MTV NEWS 1992 VMA PRE-SHOW.  Correspondent Cindy Crawford does an investigative report on a new phenomena "The Paparazzi".  Funny to think there was a time when the paparazzi was something new.   

This clip is incredible, it features an interview with the uber-private uber-powerful Publicist Pat Kingsley.  It also features interview clips with young 90s icons Bobby Brown and Matt Dillon.  Plus Cindy personally confronts a National Enquirer Editor for his coverage of her relationship with hubby Richard Gere.  HILARIOUS!!!!  View Above.

Junior Vasquez on Drugs and Sex

Superstar DJ Junior Vasquez just did the most amazing interview where he discusses HIV and his SERIOUS Crystal Meth habit.  Here are some excerpts...

Vasquez knows about losing track all-too-well. The last half-decade at least is a blur. “People tell me stories, but I just don’t remember,” he admits sadly. “I was getting so banged up before going to work, the whole time at work. Then there was the aftermath at home, being secluded, getting out of shape and not eating.”

He refers to his days at New York City’s now-classic Twilo nightclub as his “crack years.” Around that time Vasquez says he “became so belligerent” about his drug usage, crystal meth went everywhere with him. “It would be all over the DJ booth, scattered all over the records,” he recalls, an element of disgust in his voice.

“I was so proud to be a meth-head, nobody was going to talk me out of it,” he relays. “That’s how you get until you hit a personal bottom.” For Vasquez that came in February 2005 in a Texas airport. During a meth-induced seizure, the DJ nearly bit through his tongue. At that point, he called it quits.

FutureSex/LoveSounds

So it looks like Justin is really gonna do it with this new CD.  I've heard samples of all the track and they are SICK!  Plus some of my favorite MP3 sites have started leaking the new tracks, My Love and the title track FutureSex/LoveSounds.  I'm crazy about both. 

PopMuse loves a manipulated (computerized) male vocal, it's like one of my favorite sounds.  And yes, he's doing Electroclash, which is a bit 2002, but to mix it with R&B vocal arrangements is very 2007.  Work it out white boy, work, it, out!

I think I'm having a midlife crisis.  How else can I explain my absolute worship of this new Jordan Knight Debbie Gibson Duet?  They appeared on Good Morning America this morning and it totally warmed my heart, and is it me or did they totally tear it up?  Good for them having an Adult Contemporary #1 Hit (OMG! I think I am ADULT CONTEMPORARY, CRISIS INDEED!!!)

The Eyes of Lionel & Nicole Richie

I was on a flight this weekend on a DELTA / SONG PLANE and they had E! on the TVs so of course I got stuck in a 4 hour "The Simple Life" Marathon. I know, I know.  But what a MESS that show is!  And how depressing is it to watch Nicole Richie?  She is either so starved that she can barely open her eyes, or on so much Heroin she can barely open her eyes, or is so phoning it in she barely bothers to open her eyes.  But GIRL, OPEN YOUR EYES, you're on TV, NOT taking a nap.

Funny thing is her Bright Eyed Papa Lionel Richie has the Hottest P-Town Tea Dance Song of the summer.  Go Figure.  It's the remix of his new single "I Call It Love".  And it's EXCELLENT!  DOWNLOAD LINKS BELOW.  [thanks to DC and HG for the heads up.]

Superman is a Gay Boy Toy (on Will & Grace)

Here's Superman aka Brenda Routh guest starring on Will & Grace as a Goldigging Gay in a Cowboy Hat.  How did this get removed from his resume?

There is something very revealing about this little scene where Will is replaced by "Sebastian"  (Brendan) as a kept chicken to a rich older gentleman.  Something tells me that Mr. Singer saw this clip as Brenda's only line is "I'm curvy where it counts."  Amen Sup, AMEN!

Have you heard???  Joey Lawrence is gonna be a contestant on "Dancing With The Stars"?  PopMuse is a huge J. Lawr fan, (he had me at "WOAH!")  I can't promise to watch DWTS, that show is even too camp for me, but Joe, I promise to try.  The PopMuse Vid Clip above is Joey's Music Video for "Nothing My Love Can't Fix" the 1993 classic.  Enjoy!

Rub My Belly

PopMuse has the worst stomach flu ever!  Everytime I think my appetite has returned, I am sorely, yes, so sorely remided that eating is to be avoided at all costs.  But I think it's on it's way out (this is the kind of humor you get after you watch "Larry The Cable Guy: Health Inspector") because I'm getting really hungry again (re: danger!).  So hungry in fact that this picture made me laugh out loud.  (I don't remember which blog I stole it from, sorry I've been scanning so many today as I am home sick on the couch.  If it was from your blog let me know and I'll link ya, I ain't no post-theif.)  Anyway, I'm about to go experiment with toast and jam, wish me luck!

Madonna 1994 VMA Interview

Here's a little blogging tip from PopMuse, when the hits start to decrease do a post on Madonna and watch them fly back up.  No idea why, but posting on Madonna is a sure fire way to lift the page views.  That said, I'm kicking off a series of Vintage MTV VMA PopMuse Vid Clips with this funny interview with Madonna from the 1994 VMA Post Show.  It's the old bitchy sarcastic sorta-lesbian Madonna the day before she's shooting her Music Video for "Secret."  She is standing with Melodie McDaniel and Fatime (Art Director).  And she discusses, Roseanne, Jacko & wife Lisa Marie, Green Day, and the Beasties.  Watch above.  (And yes, I've sorta returned to youtube, just don't tell the folks at youtube, they HATE PopMuse, I blame Janet.)
