Get Away

Been a crappy week for PopMuse.com, between Miss Jackson's (cause she's being super nasty) lawyers slapping me with a cruel Cease & Desist, then being banished from YouTube thanks to Dick Clark Productions, I haven't felt much like blogging.  But as the Holiday weekend is approaching, I thought I'd share the one thing in my week that totally made me smile (beside the Star Wars of course).

It's Natasha Bedingfield's latest single "The One That Got Away" (all dance mixed up by Valentin.)  It's so uber-euro-trashy I thought it must have been Almighty doing the mixing...  Anyway it's so corny, but I am totally loving it.  Every summer needs a remix just like this...

Sandra Bernhard Vs. The View

Here's a little preview of what it will be like if Elizabeth and Star are still on The View when Rosie O. joins the show.  Sandra Bernhard has a long history of uncomfortable Talk Show appearances but this could be the most awkward.  Watch as Sandra tries to tell Mariah jokes to brain dead Star and Barbara.  Joy simply walks off stage (smart move) and Elizabeth barks praise of Laura Bush (what's new) while poor Sandra flails around trying to make some point about education.  This, kids, is must see TV.

Nobody's Watching

I like the idea of this.  A sitcom pilot goes through 2 years of development hell at NBC and The WB only to get dropped all together never to be seen by a television audience.  Then it surfaces on youtube and people start raving about it and adding it to their blogs. 

The show itself is cute, it's about 2 Sitcom fanatic boyfriends (or male buddies) who get to go to Hollywood, live on the set of a sitcom, and they're filmed both on and off set trying to develop an idea for a sitcom.  Hijinks's ensue. 

I'm sure it was revolutionary when it was pitched in 2004, but now the merging of reality and scripted TV is a part of our daily viewing.  Still the story behind the show is worth your attention.  The democratization of television which was inevitable with the birth of sites like ifilm and youtube is currently at our feet.  And I have a feeling Network Execs will be spending less time listening to focus groups and more time reading user comments in the near near future, and for that I am thankful.

Brit's Tits 1999

Seems like everywhere PopMuse goes people are talking about the Britney Spears Matt Lauer Interview, (that clump of mascara was so hypnotic I found it hard to hear what she was saying, maybe that was the point?) 

Anyway, all this chatter brought to mind an old clip from the PopMuse Video Archives of Britney shopping with MTV VJ Serena Altchul for the 1999 VMAs.

It features young Britney shopping for outfits with Tommy Hilfiger and Todd Oldham in NYC.  But the real star of this clip are Britney's 1999 breast implants.  (Remember the first time she got those huge ones for the SOMETIMES music video?)  She even talks about how they look with hard nipples (like they did at the Nickelodeon Awards!)  Amazing.  WATCH ABOVE.

PopMuse in the Country

This past weekend Bloghungry brought me to a wedding in Franklin North Carolina.  Although this city rat was nervous to be in the land of the country mouse, I ended up having a perfect weekend.  The weather was great, the outdoor 'in the woods' ceremony was beautiful, the 'redneck reception' in Granny's Backyard was laidback and super fun (I even danced a little, I believe there is video of it somewhere) and meeting BH's crew was the best part. 

It was great to see Bloghungry with his college peeps, a bunch of good-humored 20-somethings who love him as much as I do (how could I not adore them all?)  The whole weekend was, in a word, a TRIUMPH!

Beyonce: NOT CRAZY IN LOVE

Heard the new Beyonce track "Deja Vu"?  It's the first single from her new CD "B Day" out September 5th.  It features her boif Jay Z (again) but is certainly no "Crazy In Love". 

Seems like she is after the same sound as the new Christina Aguilera and I have to say, I far prefer the sound of Xtina's "Ain't No Other Man".  Compare and Contrast...

Today PopMuse was told to 'lighten up' by some illiterate myspace muthashutyomouth.  Yup, I was instructed (via e-mail) to stop being 'so political' and get back to 'posts about Madonna.'  I thought it was a joke, it wasn't.  And funny thing is I didn't even know I was being 'political'.

Maybe this clip of Carson Kressley prancing around naked on Queer Eye is more up your alley?  Or maybe you'll enjoy this video gem from 2001 of Gay Fav Eminem saying "I hate faggots."  (But Em, they LOVE you!)  What?  Political?  PopMuse, no, never, it's just entertainment, right asshole.  Sorry if stories of Hate Crimes makes you uncomfortable, don't worry Madonna's got your back.

Now That's What I Call Pride 06!

This past weekend was LA Gay Pride.  Bloghungry, Carrie Fisher and myself walked down to the parade (we live close by) and watched for about a half hour and that was more than enough for me.  We saw Janice Dickinson pimping her new show on Oxygen, a bunch of floats with half naked clones, and rollerskating drag nuns with bad face paint. 

Anyway it brought to mind this clip above...  It's from LOGO News, it shows Moscow's attempt at a Gay Pride Parade , where nuns, police and on-lookers threw rocks at the Gays Marchers (who were eventually arrested for marching, lovely).  It's a really disturbing violent scene and should remind you of what these marches were originally for... Watch it.

Hate Crime -- Kevin Aviance

Last night International Club Icon Kevin Aviance was beaten and robbed by 4 Monsters in the East Village.  The details are pretty scary... "there were several witnesses to the beating who didn't help him."  Lovely.  It ain't easy to silence a fierce diva like Aviance, but sadly even his jaw is wired shut.  Note to The Tyra Banks Show Producers: "Start filming NOW!"  Kevin's recovery episode should get ya'll an Emmy.  The above video clip is my favorite Kevin moment, his Music Video for "Rhythm Is My Bitch".

And You Can Dance

I'm gonna save you all a lot of time.  This kid Ivan is gonna win "So You Think You Can Dance".  I don't know this for sure, of course, but I am the PopMuse and you best not forget it!  They haven't showed him much since his audition but he's surely gonna take this silly competition.

Oh and I certainly hope you all caught Christina's amazing perf on The MTV Movie Awards.  I don't know how you kids get me to seriously discuss the 'talent' of characters like Catherine McVee when a star this is out there. 

War And Peace

What a hero Jon Stewart is.  It's too bad Anderson Cooper doesn’t have the courage to fight like this, (guess he has too much to lose.)  Anyway, kudos to Stewart for fighting Bill Bennett so hard on Gay Marriage.  Somehow I'm always shocked by TV personalities with strong opinions.  And then there's Dolly singing "Imagine"…. 

What an American treasure she is.  I was one of the unfortunate few who had to suffer through Madonna’s demolition of this song on her last tour.  That night I personally called for a moratorium on covers of Lennon’s “Imagine”.  But it's been lifted ‘cause Dolly does a beautiful version here.  And I love the idea of CMT playing this video clip which is laced with homos and other assorted liberal imagery.

Purrrin' Pussycats

Yesterday PopMuse was pitched 2 Vid Clips for the site. The first, Brittany Murphy & Paul Oakenfold's collabo "Faster Kill Pussycat" (which is a track I've been treadmilling to for months.)  Brittany totally pulls off dance diva.  And the second clip, Paris Hilton's disastrous first single and video "Stars Are Blind" (which made me wish I was blind.)  Brittany's showing more star quality in one hair extension than Paris has in a whole wig.
