Last night International Club Icon Kevin Aviance was beaten and robbed by 4 Monsters in the East Village. The details are pretty scary... "there were several witnesses to the beating who didn't help him." Lovely. It ain't easy to silence a fierce diva like Aviance, but sadly even his jaw is wired shut. Note to The Tyra Banks Show Producers: "Start filming NOW!" Kevin's recovery episode should get ya'll an Emmy. That's nice victim blaming; it makes you look like a wonderful person.
Maybe it never occurred to you that it's not up to the millions of gay Americans to censor how they act, simply so they don't get gay bashed and their jaw has to be wired shut. I mean, it seems like a pretty reasonable thing, to want to walk down the street without getting the shit kicked out of you because you don't fit someone else's gender specifications.
But why try to change anything? You seem to know the rewards of shutting up and keeping your head down.

When you throw it in people's faces- especially ignorant people- and "ask for it", you're going to get it. It's all about COMMON SENSE AND CHOICES when you're gay in America.
Why would you choose to be flamboyant in the face of ignorance and stupidity? You will only get the response typical of that mindset.
It's not right...but it is what you're going to get. Welcome to America.

this is so horrible, and I can't believe no one did anything and they were right there! That's how this country treats us! They just watch while we are beaten over and over again. Poor Kevin! Hope he is back to great soon!

I had heard about this, horrible!
Madonna made a statement about it as well, she said she was deeply disturbed by the incident, I beleive she is friends with him.
