The Other Jackson

Going through the PopMuse Archives I discovered Latoya Jackson's 1984 music video "Hearts Don't Lie".  It is a classic early 80s low budget video, hence, IT'S AMAZING!  The song has a reggae flavor and I believe, features Shalamar's Howard Hewitt singing background (although sadly he isn't in the video.) 

Plus the song and video feature a lovely message, and yes Toy, "hearts don't lie" but brothers do, so stop standing by Michael, he didn't stand by you when you were falling apart, Okaaay!

Latoya was a mess back then and she's a complete mess now, but somehow she is kinda loveable, not as loveable as a chubby Janet, but loveable all the same.

Jessicagate

Here's the official PopMuse Theory on the Simpson Lachey Break-Up.  WARNING: THIS POST IS NOT SUITABLE FOR CHILDREN OR THOSE WHO BELIEVE CELEBRITIES TELL THE TRUTH AND NOTHING BUT THE TRUTH. 

On Nov. 24th Star Magazine did a story revealing "Jessica Simpson Is 6 Weeks Pregnant"  As we all know Star Magazine has become publicist's worst nightmare.  I do believe Mrs. Lachey was/is pregnant, just not by Mr. Lachey.  And Papa Joe Simpson had a tough decision to make, allow this pregnancy story to spread over the holiday weekend or squash it faster than Jessica's squashing that fetus.  (Shut up, there is no line!)

We've all known the Newlyweds have been broken up for months, it was just a matter of time before they let it go public.  And we've all been waiting for the straw that would force the truth out.  Well this new pregnancy twist seems right. Look, divorce is easier to swallow than an aborted baby from another man, especially at the Holidays.

In honor of this terrible tragedy I thought I'd share a Comical PopMuse Vid Clip.  Justin Timberlake as Jessica Simpson and Jimmy Fallon as Nick Lachey from Saturday Night Live.

Lohan on the Edge of Sanity

Just as I'm starting to love the new Lindsay Lohan song "Confession of a Broken Heart (Daughter To Father)" I happen upon her performance on the American Music Awards.  And it goes like this...  Poor Lindsay is working her way through the new single when midway in (to my horror) she starts 'singing' a cover of the Stevie Nick's classic "Edge of Seventeen". 

Now I hate to sound stodgy, but this is clearly another sign of the apocalypse...  First off the music is a Karaoke backing track and her irritated back-up singers are doing the lead vocal as Lindsay mumbles along trying to remember the lyrics.  And you can actually see her thoughts as she stands there like a lost white winged dove thinking "Why did my mom force me to re-make this crap?"   

Stevie should fire-bomb her publishing company for allowing this.  (Oops, good old Michael Jackson owns Stevie's Publishing.  And clearly we now know he is indestructible.)  I swear to Jesus, if JoJo does an album of Joni Mitchell covers, I'm jumping!

"It's a Conspiracy. The Jews do it on purpose."

Michael Jackson's friend / pimp / money launderer Mark Schaffel was back on TV this morning.  This time on Good Morning America with some bizarre Jacko voice-mail messages.  It's no mystery that Schaffel was a Gay Porn Producer and someone who helped Michael through some of his many cover-ups.  Latest Schaffel/Jackson story goes; Schaffel gave Michael cash when MJ's assets were frozen (sometimes delivering the cash in Fast Food Bags.) 

Schaffel trotted out some new voice-mail messages on GMA today, and the funniest (if you find these things funny) is one where MJ blaims the "Jews" for his financial woes.  (Still wondering why Jackson moved to Bahrain?)

Christina Bratman... Mazel Tov!

For those of you who know PopMuse personally, you know Xtina and I go WAY back, like Genie Bottle back.  And I'm so happy that she has married into the Jewish faith with her past weekend nuptials to the Jewcy Jordan Bratman. 

In honor of her big day on Saturday, I thought I would share a PopMuse Vid Clip of her performing my fav Christina song "Walk Away" from my fav Christina tour "Stripped" (because really, her happiness  is all about me.)

Christina kills it in this clip, and the wicked hot dancer doing a strip tease isn't bad either.  As always she gives her fans what they want, big voice and man flesh.

Madonna's Super Pop, please make it stop.

PopBytes was nice enough to share the rare bonus track from Madonna's "Confessions" with me on Friday.  Story goes Madge had originally planned "Super Pop" as the 13th track on her latest CD, but thankfully SOMEONE (who ever you are, I love you) stopped her and instead it's being sent out to her ICON Fan Club only (I'm guessing they would be the only ones able to forgive her for this.)  If you thought the rap in "American Life" was bad... "Super Pop" features lyrics like:
"If I was a drink I'd be a lemon drop." and "If I was the President I would be different."  You really have to hear it to believe it.

The two M's are at it again!

Today Mariah released the Ultra PLATINUM Edition of her CD "The Emancipation of Mimi".  Many music industry pundits claim she chose this release date to interfere with Madonna's "Confessions" chart success. 

They're saying Mariah hopes her Lambs will come out and support her in droves, thereby keeping Madge away from that elusive #1 on the Billboard Album Charts.  Now if that ain't Diva Behavior!

If Martha's a DJ

Apparently everyone is a DJ these days...  And that includes Martha Stewart.  Oh yes, mix-master Martha is releasing a collection of Christmas CDs.  Actually it's not the worst idea I've ever heard, this would actually make quite a funny holiday gag gift, or maybe a gift for your mother?  Anyway I felt this needed to be brought to your attention.

Ragan Fox (my favorite Podcaster) WENT OFF on Tyra Banks and her Fat Suit Stunt in his latest Cast.  It was the greatest rant I have heard in years!  Would someone give Ragan a daytime talk show already!

NE Heartbreak

I had a cathartic experience watching New Edition perform on the BET 25th Anniversary Special last week.  I was a massive New Edition fan back in the day, so seeing them come together (including Bobby) to do a full on Nostalgia Medley just blew me away.  Sitting there singing along with the TV, I thought back on my mom and how she freaked out at the Four Tops / Temptations Reunion on the 1983 TV Special Motown 25.  And the cycle spins, we become our parents.

Anyway, I know most of you won't bother to watch this PopMuse Vid Clip, it is super long (12 minutes) and a huge download (27MB) but maybe someone out there will have the experience I did and that's why I'm posting it.

Highlights include "Can You Stand The Rain" (Ricky stills sounds great) and seeing Ralph and Ronnie back-up Bobby on "My Prerogative" after all they've been through (even recently) was incredible!

Solid Gold

I was on HOLD with T-Mobile earlier today, for what seemed like an eternity. (Have I told you how much I despise T-Mobile?  Well I do, and on Dec. 20th my contract ends and Iamgonna celebrate!) 

Anyway, the T-Mobile Hold Music DJ dropped Missy Elliott's "Lose Control" which was my fav jam of the summer and that reminded me of a PopMuse Vid Clip I forgot to Post.  It's from the old TV Show Solid Gold, which, for you kids, was a music show where nylon leotard clad dancers performanced modern dance to Top 40 Hits.  Occasionally they would have non-professional dancers do a dance-off in a Star Search Stylee. 

Here is one of those dance-offs.  The first group of dancers Breaks to a song Missy E. completely stole for her track "Lose Control".  (Who knew Missy was such a Solid Gold fan?)

Note:  The Plus Size Guy who's Poppin' is perfection. And the Vogue-ing from the second group is years before it's time.
