I wake up, I turn on the news and I see this...  "Governor Arnold Schwarzenegger to veto gay marriage bill."  And I think, one step forward, two steps back...  And while the world's attention is focused on Katrina (thankfully that injustice seems to be getting some real angry news attention) this one will most likely pass quickly and quietly in the night. 

But it led me to think of a time when even the most timid stars were willing to support gay rights...

So in the old tradition of Americans (stars and otherwise) with Balls, PopMuse would like to bring up a little piece of personal history on CA's fine Governor Arnold Schwarzenegger. 
Schwazzy was brought to this country by Joe Gold (founder of Gold's Gym.)  Joe was a deeply closeted homosexual for his entire life up until close to his death. 

Joe once confessed is his final years (to a straight trainer acquaintance of mine) that Arnold (whom Joe was deeply in love with) spent many a night doing 'Gay for Pay Hustling' when he first got to LA.  It was how many BodyBuilders afforded to live, buy steriods, and train pre-bodybuilding sponsorships.  (Apparently Gays weren't so frightening to Arnold when he had to put food in his immigrant mouth and needles in his immigrant ass.)  Joe painted a vivid picture of Arnold as a Hustler for Bodybuilding fame, then a Hustler for Hollywood fame, and now obviously, a Hustler for Republican fame.

And George Michael sings..."I will be your father figure, put your muscle hand in mine..."

And Maria Shriver... don't even get me started on her...  How 'bout that deep friendship with Oprah?  Screw it, someone just go ask Sandra Bernhard, she's got the full story on that one!

And for my own personal safety, please file all this under allegedly.

Ahhhh, to be back in the days when Madonna was progressive, bi, and not-British. And when MTV news was actual news.

You are absolutely right that this will go unnoticed because of the Katrina catastrophe. And I'm far more inclined to believe Arnold's gay-for-pay days than that he has worked in Hollywood all these years and still has issues with any type of sexuality.
