How cute does this film look? A movie about 5th Grade inner city kids learning how to Ballroom Dance? I'm so there. Ballroom Dancing is the new Spelling Bee.
And kudos to the marketing kids at Nick and Paramount on the Tagline:
"Anyone can make it if they learn how to shake it." So true, no?
New York Magazine seems to like it too.

Children who have passion in ballroom dancing should not stop enhancing their skills. It’s best to learn at a young age. This movie is an inspiration. My wife actually liked it when we watched it before, and she said that she’ll definitely let our future children watch this too!

Dance movies are my thing! I'm a dancer, and these movies inspire me to become better at my craft. So far, my most recent favorites are Shall We Dance and Mad About Mambo. Anyway, Mad Hot Ballroom seems like a good one. Truly, the sight of kids dancing is both beautiful and encouraging. =)

I saw it a couple weeks ago and it was easily the best movie this year.. I'm not just saying that because every movie this year has been so disappointing (although it helps).

Does anyone ballroom dance outside of ballroom dancing classes?

Look out for a familiar face in that movie - Solomon-who-you-might-remember-from-Hofstra is allegedly in it saying "Second place is the first loser."
And then, I assume, all the children cry.
